HOSPITALIST PHYSICIAN
Location: Connecticut, Northeast
Board Eligible-Certified: Internal Medicine/ Family Practice
Join expanding Hospitalist Team comprised of 12 physicians and 6 NP's providing service on behalf of 2 hospitals owned by a community based healthcare system.
The Hospitalist program currently admits and manages more than one half of the medical service patients at the two sites, and has a good working relationship with more than half of the surgical specialists, partnering in co-management of patients with significant comorbidities on the surgical service. Present staffing models provide for two physicians, and one or two APRNs, on duty from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 7 days a week and one physician during other hours. Physicians rotate between days and nights equitably. Physicians are typically scheduled for 2-week blocks of three 12-hour shifts, or four 9-hour shifts per week. APRNs are scheduled for four 9-hour shifts per week. Every attempt is made to enhance continuity of care by grouping day shifts as consecutively as possible during the 2-week blocks, which has been largely favored by the staff.
